Went to visit my dad at the hospital in Bristol today. His spinal-fusion surgery was completed yesterday. The operation itself went well, but everything else like the recovery has been rough so far. Without morphine, his stay would be impossible. But the doctors say everything should turn out OK.

    On a lighter note...

Going across the state line, there was a sign that said, "Welcome to TN, the birthplace of country music."

I laughed out loud in the car at that one. Everybody else was a second or two behind, but they eventually got it, too...

My dad's name is Tony Stuart, and with TN having a major obsession with NASCAR, I believe the ears of everyone within earshot perked up when one of the nurses mentioned his name out in the hallway.

And -Meg, I believe we could've saved $50 on lunch if it weren't for the bloody sales tax.

    OK... $50 - Yeah, I exaggerated.

Err... maybe not. I'd say that's pretty damn close.

And if Wellmont Bristol Regional Medical Center rings a bell, that's where we were.

Neem through Bristol a couple of times always wait until I cross the border before eating!

You probably would have saved $50 bucks to tax. It is close to if not over 10% in most places.

Glad to hear your Father made it through all the surgury - and pass on that I hope he has a speedy recovery!

    Thanks.

The interesting thing was that all the nurses, secretaries, etc. in the hospital were much more courteous than the ones I've seen at big medical centers here in VA and NC.
